New JET-shear In-tank Mixers

Ampco Pumps Company introduces the JET-shear in-tank mixer to the Ampco Applied Products mixing and blending line.

The JET-shear in-tank mixer offers interchangeable stainless steel work heads that are designed for 3A and CIP. The JET-shear can be used in open and closed tanks, drums or tote processing up to 1000 gallons/ 3785 liters. The maximum working shaft is 96 inches/ 2440cm and can be mounted in several configurations. This durable mixer is designed with a stainless steel bearing housing and can be equipped with up to a 30hp motor.

Typical applications in the food, beverage, pharmaceutical and industrial industries: agitate, de-agglomeration, disperse, dissolve, emulsify, eliminate fisheyes, homogenize, process acceleration and particle reduction.

Ampco is pleased to announce the recent hiring of Neil Johnston as Mid-East Regional Sales Manager. Neil comes from both the sanitary and industrial distribution world with experience in pumps, tanks, and heat exchangers for more than 15 years.

Most recently Neil has focused heavily on PD Pumps and Mixing equipment in the sanitary market. Neil is a resident of Dublin, Ohio and will cover Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky, West Virginia, Maryland, Western Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Ohio.

Previously Ampco’s North Central Regional Sales Manager, Mary Augustine is now moving to the corporate offices in Glendale Wisconsin as Business Development Specialist for Ampco. Mary has been a Regional Sales Manager for over 7 years first in the Northeast and most recently in the North Central territory.

Mary is excited to move into this newly created role and utilize her experience in mixing and blending to assist with this rapidly growing segment of Ampco Pumps Company.

Chad comes to us from SPX Flow where he spent the last six years as North American Sales Manager for the Food & Beverage Division. Prior to SPX Flow, Chad worked in various technical sales and sales management roles for industry leaders such as Alfa Laval, Siemens and SIHI Pumps. Chad earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Clemson University in 1990 and has twenty-eight years of pump experience in the food, beverage, pharmaceutical, personal care and chemical industries. Chad’s knowledge and hands-on experience is a tremendous asset as Ampco continues to innovate the positive displacement pump market.

Popular Kentucky Brewery Learns ROLEC DH-90…Not Just for Hop Induction

A local Brewery in Kentucky recently purchased Ampco’s ROLEC DH90 to safely induce hops. Previously the brewery struggled to add hops via a scissors lift or ladder on slanted floors; now a thing of the past. They are very pleased with unit and the benefits it has provided with quicker fermentation times and great tasting beer.

While the unit was originally designed by Ampco for safety, most brewers have found the DH90 beneficial for several other tasks. This Kentucky brewery found the unit to be perfect not only for hops but also for inducing very thick flavorings like strawberry and blackberry purees. Prior to the DH90 a very slow pump was used to add these flavorings into the stream of beer. The ROLEC DH-90 efficiently incorporates the flavors into the beer in less time with better flavor profiles by utilizing the chopping effect of the inline SBI Shear Blender technology.

Another advantage found by the brewery is the ability to use the unit as a simple transfer pump. They feel they have gained a great tool and a new pump in the plant.
